A weird thing happened...

Well we had an appointment with our SW on Friday and it was fine...odd though she decided not to charge us...weird huh?

During the appointment she explained that she has several families in the old system ( pre December 31st, 2007). We are one of them. She explained that she would complete our HS this fall but for the next few weeks is very busy and won’t be able so see us again until the beginning of October...breath...well I guess there is nothing we can do but hope for the best and be patient.

Other than that we had a quiet long weekend...didn’t do much expect help my sister clean out her garage...it’s wonderful, she can now walk through it!

We’re thinking of going down to NC for Canadian Thanksgiving...I’ll have to see if we can get time off and whether or not the dogs can be kennelled....

Later!

Things are starting to look up...

Okay so here’s where we are at...

The property has FINALLY been subdivided and we have been paid (…although we are waiting for the check to clear cause for some reason they did not have it certified…don’t worry, the lawyer won’t release it until we confirm the funds are in our account…

So we have an appointment with our social worker August 29th (sadly it was the earliest she could see us) we have fingerprints. We still need police background checks and our medicals…
So what do we do…well I figured, as I managed to get through this whole long and drawn out process without killing someone…I bought myself a Wii and Super Paper Mario….and I think I’m better now than when I had the original Nintendo , when I was 12….

Anyways, it’s a long weekend here, so I’m going to relax and play my Wii…

I've got fingerprints! Oh yes I do! I've got fingerprints! How 'bout you?

Okay, so I’ve been really quiet for the last several months, honestly I’ve been too frustrated to post but….we have fingerprints!

The subdivision went to the lawyer today, to get the deed issued and transferred and should be completed next week! Yay!! So during our all too brief holidays I convinced my dh that we ought to go and get them done, since we were nearing the home stretch I suggested we go get them done in case it takes as long as it did last summer…so exactly a week later…they arrived in the mail!

I’m in the process of setting up an appointment with our SW, but unfortunately she has no openings until the end of August…oh well I guess there’s nothing we can do until then…

Happy Day!

Long overdue update and looking for vacation ideas...

Okay I know it’s been a long time, but I really didn’t want to post another post until I had something positive to say…but it’s been too long….so here we go!
On the fingerprints, no explanation from the RCMP…they never returned a single phone call. To be honest I’ve moved on. That is to say that I have accepted that someone screwed up and will never face up to it. But, at the same time, I can’t get mad since I need my fingerprints, so getting angry at this point won’t serve anyone.

The severance of the property still hasn’t been completed…now this makes me very angry, you see even if I wanted to I can’t pay for the adoption, until this gets finalized. You may or may not remember I mentioned this in a post last March (OMG!), well the problem in this saga is the sale is between my dh and myself and two really good friends (although I’m not sure how reliable). If it were up to me I would have thrown in to towel and done it ourselves, but my dh insists it’ll get done. You would not believe how I saw red when she asked me one day how the adoption was going. I told her it wasn’t as she hadn’t paid for the property. Yup, that made for a short conversation. A few weeks ago, she asked how we’d like the payment….we told her certified cheque, but I’m not holding my breath, I’ll believe it when the money is in my account.

On another topic, summer holidays are coming up and I had planned to go down to N.C., to visit the folks, but last night my father asked that we don’t come. He said it would be too hectic….now I haven’t got a clue what I’m going to do with the ten days I took off. Any ideas? We’ve haven’t taken a holiday, that wasn’t going to see my folks, since 2002 when we went on a cruise.

Other than that I’ve been quietly lurking, reading my favourite blogs, hoping for good news…

Are you freaking kidding me????

Okay, deep breath and breathe…

Yesterday, when I got home I checked the mail as usual and what did I find….two envelopes from the RCMP! I can’t believe it seven months after having them done they finally came back….but alas it may be to good to be true….

You see when I opened the envelopes, they were indeed our finger prints, but they may be already expired…the issue date is clearly January 13th, 2008,however, the date the search of the database was completed was July 12, 2007….which means that they were printed off to be sent to me exactly 6 months and one day after the search was completed…Why me???????

Now on Monday, I’m going to have to make some calls to find out if my fear that they are already expired is true. If it is, I’m going to raise hell with the RCMP!! It is unacceptable and this has caused everything else to become expired as we have been waiting over 7 months to get them back. (You may remember we had them done on June 1st and we did them electronically so they couldn’t get lost!) Do you think I can get the RCMP to cough up the money to redo everything that has expired since we have been waiting?????

Deep breath and breathe...I can't do anything until Monday...

Quick Update and Holiday Wishes

Well the seasons are changing since I last posted, I have been around but I really haven’t had much to report. Our fingerprints never surfaced and no one from the RCMP called me back...so we are going to have to redo them and all the other documents (police clearance, medical reports ect.) and finish the homestudy. We are waiting until the new year as with the holidays and I changed jobs it’s been a little too stressful...

That’s right I changed jobs...I successfully competed and won a promotion to a different federal department and I started last Monday...so that has been a huge adjustment. This position is a managerial position with staff reporting to me ...eeek! I’m sure it will be great once I get used to the role.

Christmas is coming next week, so we are leaving for my parent’s this week for a short visit.(finger’s crossed for good weather). I’m nowhere near ready for Christmas...there will be some last minute shopping in N.C... hoping the deals are good. Also spending some time with my parents as they were unable to come up this year as orginally planned.

We got a major dump of snow here yesterday...at home I received more than 50 cm of snow (yup that’s 5-0! Or half a metre!!!) Last night we drove home from spending the afternoon with my sister only to find that our "snow guy" never showed and we subsequently got stuck at the end of or drive way! He’s so fired!!! we did get the number of another guy who promptly arrived half and hour after we called and dug us out...we also inquired about hiring his services for the rest of the year...he gave us a price and we are considering it, but my DH wants to speak with our snow guy to find out why he didn’t do the snow, in case he has a reason... not holding my breath though cause when my DH called him as we were stuck at the end of the driveway...his wife advised my DH that he was sleeping!!!!
Anyways...wishing you and yours a safe and warm holiday season and peace for the coming year!.....Cheers!

An Eeyore kind of day...ho hum and kinda gloomy

No, not the weather, more like me....

Okay…..so I’ve been away for a while, well not really I’ve been checking out the blogs I follow almost every day…it’s just that I have no news….fingerprints are still nowhere to be found….I’ve been waiting for them for over 4 months and I’m beginning to fell they got lost…although I’m not entirely sure how as they were taken electronically and emailed directly to the RCMP (the company who does it in my city offers this service at no extra charge)….I did it this was explicitly so they wouldn’t get lost….but now I’m really concerned. I’m going to have to see if they can be tracked down next week…all my other docs are expiring and I’m still waiting for the blasted fingerprints!!!!!!!!

I’m feeling really discouraged about this process right now…I feel like as much work as I put into it I am worried at the end I will be told there is no child for me……
